As educational leaders, we face challenges every year. When the pandemic tilted our world – closing school doors across the globe – we hastened to support students for year end academic success. While hallways were painfully empty, our hearts remained full of hope for their swift return to campus. We still dwell in uneasy times.
In reality, the educational landscape always changes. School policies are constantly redesigned to meet fresh student needs. Lesson plans are tirelessly revamped to engage diverse learners. Over time, we’ve shifted from textbooks to technology, delighting computer-savvy students but frightening parents. Personal interaction decreases, digital information increases. While we are rethinking classrooms, we are also planning for our students’ emotional and social well-being during unpredictable situations. Life never stands still.
Yes, we bemoan our past but we also roll up our sleeves. As leaders in an IB World School, we have been creating innovative plans to address these new life concerns. There may be unique demands on the delivery of education, but our core goals remain stable: We continue to create well-rounded, knowledgeable, compassionate young adults whether they are learning on campus or off.
